Monviso Fruits: our ambitious bet.
Who we are?
A lush innovation has been revealed in autumn 2014. Since some days in fact, the Monviso table grapes is available as a result of an ambitious project, born more or less 2 years ago and that has finally become reality. In 2010, in fact, an analytical study of the fruits and vegetables market in Europe pointed out that the seedless grapes (technically called APIRENE grapes) was playing a key and growing role in the market for the final consumers.Following the evidences of the European study, the technical staff of Agri Valle Bronda, one of the most important company of north italy on the national and international market, started to evaluate the possibility of growing and developing some new grapes variety also in Piedmont and in particular on the foothills of the Monviso Valleys. However, this was not a new born intuition but was deeply rooted into the history and tradition of the selected geographic area: since the beginning of the XX century, in fact, specific and peculiar vineyards called ‘autin’ where cultivated here, although specifically dedicated to the wine production. Despite the economic crisis and the difficult situation that is now afflicting on the fruit local market (damaging first the kiwi production and more recently the peaches producers), some local producers do not resigned themselves to the crisis and decided to bet on the Monviso’s seedless grapes. This is how the first few vineyards has been created on the foothills and valleys around the Monviso (going from Revello to Piasco and including also Saluzzo, Faliceto, Lagnasco and Costigliole Saluzzo) and how the Monviso Fruit Cooperative, which has its headquarters in Pagno and is chaired by Claudio Monge, has been finally founded. A product of the highest quality, which has founded unanimous appreciation from the experts, Italians and foreigners, who in these days are coming to Saluzzo to "test" and "measure" the characteristics of the new grapes, available both in red and white colors . "The seedless grapes - we were told by the producers of Monviso - is appreciated for different reasons. The ease with which children can eat it, the lack of embarrassment that generally comes from the necessity to expel the seeds from the mouth, the simplicity in desserts and fruit marmalades, comfort in the preparation of fruit for fourth range. "You just have to "try" then ... but where can I find and what are the costs? "Since some days the grapes of Monviso is available in almost all the fruits and vegetables stores of Saluzzo to a price that, despite the fact that the product is defined as a " top of the range " one , is perfectly aligned with the different variety of Traditional grapes.
